If you are looking for a little more privacy in your yard but don’t like the idea of a fence, consider a Techny Arborvitae. This fast growing tree makes an excellent green screen all year round. This tree prefers full sun to partial shade and doesn’t mind our chilly Minnesota winters. Local wildlife will also thank you for providing them with a safe refuge. This species is very attractive to deer. If deer visit your property often, prevent excessive browsing while the new tree establishes by using three metal t-post stakes and 5’ welded wire to create a large circular fence around the tree. Maintain fencing and expand circle if needed for the first for 2-3 years.
